Biographical Sketch
Dr. Woskov joined MIT in 1976 and the MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center in 1979 where he is currently a Senior Research Engineer. He has over 30 years experience in leading and working with national and international research teams in the areas of energy and environmental research. These areas have included work on major fusion energy experiments, on applied plasmas for waste remediation and pollution monitoring, on nuclear fission enabling technologies, on millimeter-wave dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) technology, and on directed energy geothermal energy access. Dr. Woskov has over 170 publications, has given 12 invited talks, and has 16 patents. He has mentored over 18 students and has served on the program committees and was a chairman, of the APS Topical Conference on High Temperature Plasma Diagnostics and the Laser Aided Plasma Diagnostics Symposium. He has served as a member of Executive Committee, IEEE Plasma Sciences and Application Committee (PSAC) from 2007-2010. Dr. Woskov is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and a member of the American Physical Society, American Chemical Society, American Nuclear Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Eta Kappa Nu (honor society).
Honors include: six R&D 100 Awards in 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2001 and 2006 for innovations applying the use of millimeter-wave and microwave technologies, a Discover Award finalist for innovation in environmental technologies 1996, and a Best Paper Award from the American Ceramics Society for his work on millimeter-wave monitoring of nuclear waste glass melts in 2001.
