Alcator C-MOD Weekly Highlights Oct. 23, 1995 We are currently in the process of re-commissioning the Alcator C-MOD facility after the summer maintenance and upgrade interval. Checkout and testing activities are proceeding. Operational tests of all tokamak systems will be carried out over the next two weeks. A high-temperature (110 C) bake was carried out from Monday through Thursday, followed by a round of discharge cleaning (ECDC). A problem with the microwave source used for ECDC was noted on Friday, following which the discharge cleaning was discontinued and high-temperature bakeout resumed. The ECDC system has now been repaired, and the discharge cleaning cycle re-started. Testing of the control system hardware and software was carried out. A bug in a timing sequence software module, which had been upgraded over the summer, was identified and fixed. All coil systems and supplies have been hi-potted successfully. Low-power testing into the actual coil system will begin this week. Ben Welch from University of Maryland is at Alcator this week commissioning his new spectroscopic diagnostic.
