Alcator C-Mod Weekly Highlights December 28, 2001 Over the last week we have made progress on the inspection, the Lower Hybrid MIE Project, the new inner divertor, and ICRF systems. Inspection ---------- Measurements and tests of the OH2 Lower coax continued this week. These last measurements were required so that fine adjustments to the OH hardware could be made before final assembly. We now expect reassembly of C-Mod to begin next week. The support ring for the TF spring plate hydraulic insertion tool is nearly ready to be tested. A procedure for testing the tool is being developed. Operations ---------- We continue to work on the new TF and thermocouple scanners. Work continues on improvements to the MOV protection system for the magnet power supply bus. New boots that seal the cryostat to the machine are being fabricated in preparation for reassembly. New milling equipment needed to modify the cylinder arrived this week. Our vendor is making progress on the modifications to the cryostat. Lower Hybrid MIE Project ------------------------ Cable routing between the equipment racks, the carts, and other Lower Hybrid components is proceeding. Wiring between the water instrumentation and the junction boxes is also being installed. We have finished wiring the second transmitter control and protection cabinet. The water hoses needed to connect the klystrons to the water system are now in-house. These hoses are also needed to perform some initial tests on the water system. The pump controller for the cooling system is being installed. The 480 VAC connection to the pumps and breakers is in progress. The pump rotation test is scheduled for next Friday. The mechanical drawings of the master oscillator distribution chassis and related brackets and supports have been completed. A request has been generated to fabricate these parts. Work on the phase and amplitude control system continued. ICRF Systems ------------ The PC board for the new demodulator is now in house. Work populating the first board with components has begun. DNB and Related Diagnostics --------------------------- The F-port flange design has been approved by all interested parties with the stipulation that a small change in the location of one tangential port is made to increase the clearance around a flange mounting bolt. The design for the modification to the diagnostic stand to accommodate the Budker DNB was completed. Camac and PLC rack reconfiguration and addition of supports for the transformer tank are underway. Inner Divertor -------------- All halo and eddy current Rogowskis have been tested successfully and cable runs for these coils are now in progress. We will begin torquing all the divertor plates to spec next week. This process will take several days.
