Alcator C-Mod Weekly Highlights Jan 3, 2006 FY2006 weeks of research operations: Planned: 14 weeks Completed: 4 weeks Operations ---------- Scheduled maintenance activities continued last week. The C-Mod vessel is up-to-air and manned-access activities began on Tuesday. The Faraday screen has been replaced on the J-port antenna, and the final re-assembly of this system is underway. The cable which controls the shutter on the MSE optics assembly was found to be broken. A new cable has been ordered and will be installed during this vent. Trial fit-up of a cryo-pump shim plate, which interfaces to existing vessel studs, was successfully completed. The maintenance period will continue this week. Lower Hybrid System ------------------- The stainless steel plugs have been welded in all four stainless steel couplers, and all couplers have been successfully leakchecked. Final cleaning of the couplers has begun in preparation for re-installation of the LH launcher. Lower Hybrid system cabling that would limit access to the launcher has been removed so that installation of the couplers can proceed. The cables will be re-installed after the launcher has been moved back into position at C-port.
