Alcator C-Mod Weekly Highlights December 29, 2008 FY2009 weeks of research operations: Target: TBD Completed: 0 weeks Operations ---------- Installation of the OH2U coax was completed last week, and it has successfully passed both the contact pressure and resistance tests. Installation of the OH2L and OH1 coaxes is proceeding this week. Work also continued on the alternator inspection. Ultrasonic, eddy current, and visual inspections have been completed on the collector end of the rotor, and processing of the data by our vendor has begun. We expect the inspection of the turbine end of the rotor to be completed early in January. A contract has been issued for obtaining a ring sample of the rotor core. A meeting with the vendor will take place this week. Lower Hybrid System ------------------- Work continued on the Transmitter Protection System (TPS) upgrade. Calibration data is being taken on the TPS interface boards, and this information will be provided to our vendor to be used in their Phase II SBIR work. We also continued testing new data acquisition/protection boards for the Coupler Protection System (CPS) upgrade. ICRF Systems ------------ The FMIT#4 FPA bias supply regulator was removed from the transmitter to investigate an instability in the bias current observed during the last run campaign. Several MOSFETs were replaced and changes to the resistor values made. The transmitter will be tested with these changes over the next few days. Diagnostics ----------- We continued to develop upgraded electronics for divertor heat flux and Langmuir probes, divertor thermocouples, and Compact Neutral Particle Analyzers. Prototyping of an FIR Polarimeter optical chord continued. Layout drawings of the Polarimeter optics at K-Port are being developed for review. _______________________________________________ Cmod_weekly mailing list Cmod_weekly@lists.psfc.mit.edu http://lists.psfc.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/cmod_weekly
