Pre-installation Form for TF Arms and Legs 1st version 10/14/98 v10/15/98 Date: Arm or leg under test: The inspector should initial each step as it is completed: 1) Check that arm or leg is free of any dirt, paper labels, etc 2) Use 20 mil shim between fingers on feltmetal end to make sure the space is completely clear 3) Insert 142 mil G10 shim between fingers on feltmetal end. It should go in easily. Measure distance across fingers and feltmetal Spacing should be at least 362-364 mils 4) Plane down and smooth out blue epoxy on back of arm 5) Check that feltmetal is coated uniformly with electrodag remove any electrodag that has coated the edges of the fingers run an ethanol dipped swab between the fingers along the plate-to-plate insulation 6) Check that TC and voltage tap leads are clean with no sign of damage to the insulation, or if damaged, that they have been properly repaired. verify continuity of voltage taps to plates verify operation of TCs 7) Use and ohmmeter to check plate-to-plate resistance All resistances must be greater than 1 MOhm to proceed 8) Mega plate-to-plate resistances to 500 volts. Record max current All current readings should be less than 0.5 mA
