Weekly TCI Maintenance Water System * Check reservoir levels in both circulators. Water level should be up to the neck of the fill nipple. If water level is low replenish with distilled water. * Check for proper operation of UV Sterilization units. Should see purple light emitted from viewing port on each unit. Replace burned out UV source as necessary using the following procedure. * Unplug unit to be repaired. * Remove unit front cover by removing two phillips head screws, one on each side of the unit. Do not touch the semi-circular reflector on the inside cover with your fingers or hand. If you do be sure to clean it with alcohol to remove finger prints or smudges before reinstallation. * Rotate and remove old tube in the same manner as a fluorescent light. * Wearing a Nitrilite glove (from Vac shop) remove new tube from package and install in the UV unit. * Replace cover taking care not to scratch or touch the new tube with the reflector. * Re-apply power to unit. It takes several seconds for the unit to turn on completely and the tube may blink several times before it is fully on. * Go to PLC screen called ?Cooling? at the TCI station in the control room and ensure that the UV indicator is ?on?. The display should be violet if the unit is running properly. Note 1: Fingerprints, smudges, or any dirt on the UV tube may cause hot spots on its surface and could shorten it?s life. Note 2: If tube does not re-light the ballast or starter may need to be replaced. See me for instructions and parts. * Remove debris and dirt from the floor around the experiment. Sweep up.
