After we complete j-port tests, and assuming we can get a total useful power of >= 3 MW, we will begin MP282A. For 1000929018, J-port heats effectively as D and E-port with no major impurity injections. There appear to be differences between J and D&E in terms of central electron heating and neutron production for 1.5 MW. Before leaping to conclusions, first we would like to verify the injected power measurements by the power meters (data is available for these discharges). If there is still a remarkable difference, we can do further experiments to estimate the absorbed power efficiency, compare D and E separately to J-port (power density), and vary the J-port antenna phasing to match D and E spectrum. Two operational issues we should pursue are the perhaps spurious screen xbars and faulting both transmitters when one fault is received. The latter may be necessary because if one transmitter faults the remaining active straps are in-phase. We have demonstrated this to be an undesirable antenna phasing. We could also re-arrange the transmission lines to allow half the antenna to be run without resulting in a poor antenna phasing. |

We were not able to get more H-mode shots with both j3 and j4 going before we had to shut down to investigate a ground fault. We will continue work on this problem on Monday. Startup was 100% today. Problems: One no_power, and two TF only tests were required today to check out the TF tap scanner and test the TF supply after checking the fuses following shot 15. An OH test was run successfully following the ground fault indication on shot 15.
