We also made a comparison of D, E and J-port separately in H-mode. The fault protection circuitry was properly faulting both transmitters when one had an arc indication. We were limited in power because FMIT#4 gain appeared to decrease compared previous operation (only 1.4 MW into dummy load). We suspect a lower stage is oscillating resulting in a decrease in gain. The IPA tube is known to be prone to oscillate. We will investigate this on the next maintenance day. |

Run begins 9:00 and ends at 17:00 Power System Setup: Same as on 1001006019 Gas setup fill B-top with 6 psi of D2 Hybrid enabled fill B-side lower with 1 psi of Ar Hybrid DISABLED fill B-side upper with 35 psi of D2 Hybrid DISABLED, for ECDC fill C-side with 30 psi of D2 Hybrid enabled Prepare for between shot ECDC The following gate valves should be enabled: the BEAST, ECE, VUV Summary To try and maintain a good H/D during the run we ran 10 minutes of ECDC between shots from the beginning of the run. We seemed to be able to maintain about a 7% to 9% level most of the day. However, near the end of the day, and after going to 1 MA Ip, the H/D worked its way up to 12% or so during RF. Around shot 7 we raised ZXL .4 cm to get the plasma off the inner divertor floor. This change may have helped with the disruptions. The RF group was able to consistently deliver 4 MW of power today until we raised the plasma current to 1 MA. Several shots were then required to retune the #3 and #4 transmitters. The last shot of the day, 21, had some short bursts of power up to the 4 MW level and gave us 190 kJ of stored energy. Still no records... Problems We lost one shot because of a gas system fault. No enable signal got to the gas system from the hybrid event though it was generated by the hybrid. We took a no power test, got gas, and then got a plasma on the next try. Br0 drifted around on shots 12 and 13 and caused a couple of fizzles. About 1kA of extra OH2L current was seen at t=0. Also noted a 2.5 kA positive current in OH2U at t=-1.1 s. The Power Group has been asked to look into this problem, and will do some sine/cosine board tests in the morning before the run. RF group had some problems today getting #4 power beyond 1 MW. Seems to be either a control or tuning problem.
