The machine ran very well today with full length discharges being
obtained from early on in the run. Progress was made on all the topics
planned for the run.

The reasons of today's run were to continue plasma conditioning,
bring up the DNB and related diagnostics, and the rf. Signal to noise
of the MSE system is said to be very good with signals seen on all
channels. On shot 14, 250kW of power was delivered by both D and E
antennas, and 1 MW total was delivered reliably the rest of the day.
The H/D ratio was very high (>2) all day, so there was very little
chance of seeing any heating. Most of the fueling was from the wall
rather than the D2 puff. The new Penning gauges are working
and some tests of the divertor BC gauge with the BC flapper in
operation were made. Preliminary results from these tests indicate
rather low gas flow through the flapper. The rotation measurements
were brought back online today. Some oxygen was seen by the McPherson
during the rf pulses, but no carbon. Finally, the OH2L coax resistance
is back down to its nominal value.

Gas setup:
fill B-top with 6 psi of D2 Hybrid Enabled
fill B-side lower with 1 psi of Ar Hybrid ENABLED
fill B-side upper with nothing Hybrid DISABLED
fill C-side with 30 psi of D2 Hybrid Enabled
fill J-bottom with nothing Hybrid DISABLED

Please have XMTRs 1 and 2 warmed up by 7:30
Please have main power for XMTRs 3 and 4 on.

Run scheduled to start at 09:00 and end at 17:00.

The machine cleaned up substantially today, and we were able to run many shots
into rampdown. There was essentially no deuterium puffed after .4 seconds in the
shots; the discharges ran off of wall inventory. H/D rose steadily through the
day, being more than 2/1 by the end. We did not ECDC during the run.

The RF ran into plasma for the first time this year, with both D and E
delivering power.

The DNB was operational on most plasma shots. MSE was getting decent signals.
Chromex was used to look for CXRS from carbon, and boron, as well as helium
which was puffed on a few shots (16, 17, & 18).
