Summary

The J-port antenna conditioning and testing was completed. A phase
scan showed that the nominal [0,pi,0,pi] was most effective heating
phase and had little or no negative edge interaction. A right gap
scan was also completed and suggested a right gap of 1-1.5 cm was
better than larger right gaps. Antenna performance was insensitive to
BT from 5-5.6T. Boronization recovery did require a few discharges
eventhough than antenna was voltage conditioned to 32 kV before the
run.

D-port antenna had numerous false phase balance faults due to DI3-I4
demodulator (SN-05). Work was begun to modify another module and may
be completed for tomorrow's run.

A number of discharges ended in disruption. The antenna videos show
that neither J nor D consistently injecting impurities. A number of
discharges were done, as is the norm, where one or multiple antennas
were turned off to determine if they were the cause. These discharges
as performed are inadequate to determine if the antenna or the heat
load is causing the problem. To properly determine if an antenna is
the source, we can use the videos. Otherwise, these test discharges
should have the same total injected power as the discharges of
concern.

Summary
_______

The machine ran fairly reliably. Recovery from Boronization was no
problem at all with this startup. The two fizzles we had were
apparently from Br drifting up. About -0.5 to -1 mT is where it likes to be.

Shot 2 was a null shot resulting from over an hour of trying to get the camac
to work after a SCSI cable apparently came loose.

Numerous of the plasmas were disrupted by bricks that appeared to be caused by
the RF. D-port did not seem happy today. J-port ran tolerably at 0 pi 0 pi
phase. Shot 21 had a sustained 3MW total power of which 2 came from J.
