| Session Leader Run Summary for 1010730 MP289A Double Barrier Studies All plasmas had double barriers from D and E antennas, with J antenna available with a variety of delay times and power levels. Several discharges demonstrated barrier arrest, and will be used for a detailed ion temperature profile: 12, 13, 15 and 22. Confirming earlier results, it appears that J port power in excess of 600 kW tends to destroy the barrier, at least at the 2.0 MW level from D and E, and at a central density near 4x10^20/m^3. 2 shots had pellet injection so q profiles may be available. Several shots were lost due to a variety of problems: H=L transitions, J port trips and probe insertions. |

| Physop run summary 1010730 we will continue MP289A double barriers. ECDC in D2 over the weekend. The run started at ~10:00 am and ended at 7:00 pm. SL: Rice/Wukitch PO: Marmar Power supply settings as for 1010727028 Gas setup: fill B-Top with 6 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG4) fill B-side lower with 1 psi Ar Hybrid enabled (PG1) fill B-side upper with 10 psi D2 Hybrid DISABLED (PG2) (for ECDC) fill C-side with 30 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG3) fill J-Bottom with 30 psi He Hybrid DISABLED(PG5) Enable the following gate valves, assuming no vacuum problems: ECE, DNB, VUV Results: The machine ran quite well today, and there were a number of useful shots obtained for the miniproposal. We used between-shot ECDC only once; H/D was in the 6% to 8% range. There were 2 no power cycles and one relatively long delay due to computer problems. We had 5 fizzles: BR_0 was drifting around, and the prefill requirements appeared to change with wall conditions. Most shots had a maintenance gas puff during the H-mode portion (nl04 feedback turned off during that time). Scorecard: Plasmas 24 Tests/no power 3 Fizzles 5 Total cycles 32 |
