Engineering Setup and Run Plan--------------------------------------------
Engineering setup for Thursday 18 July 2002

Session leader: S. Wukitch
Physics operator: Rowan

Set up for possible ECDC in D2 between shots.

Run begins at 09:00 and ends at 17:00.

Power systems the same as for shot 1020717012.

Gas setup:
fill B-Top with 6 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG4)
fill B-side lower with 1 psi Ar Hybrid DISABLED (PG1)
fill B-side upper with 10 psi D2 Hybrid DISABLED (PG2) (for ECDC)
fill C-side with 30 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG3)
leave J-Bottom as is Hybrid DISABLED (PG5)

Enable the following gate valves, assuming no vacuum problems:
ECE

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RF Setup: All 4 transmitters in Run On by 07:00.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run Plan:

Work on D, E, and J systems into plasma.

Start by loading shot 1020717012, and let the RF go at it.

Note:
The RF will be firing into vacuum before the run begins, so we will want to
do 10 minutes of ECDC just before the first shot. If the H/D begins to rise
during the run, we will want to do between-shot ECDC as well.

Summary---------------------------------------------------------------------

There was an initial delay for RF. This included repairs and conditioning.
The run was given up by the SL so that work on the RF could continue.

Brian Labombard and Jim Irby took the remainder of the run to calibrate the
puff valves. The calibration consisted of an actual calibration as well as
the development of a no-plasma shot that can be reloaded to repeat the
calibration in future.

The calibration shot is 1020718006. It contains this gas puff programming.
pulse gas 2 on at -1.0 s for 0.50 s
pulse gas 3 on at +1.0 s for 0.10 s
pulse gas 4 on at +3.0 s for 0.50 s
pulse gas 5 on at +5.0 s for 0.50 s
In addition to these programmed waveforms, the density feedback must be
turned off, and the fizzle detector must be changed to a late time.
