Run 1020731: RF conditioning
Summary:

We started with inner wall limited plasma. However, the success rate of plasma was low
due to the sparking in front of the J antenna. We changed to SN diverted plasma since
shot 10. Total 12 plasms shots were long enough to put some RF power in.

D: successfully ran clean at 1.3 MW for 400 ms. (shot 25). But tripped out at H-L transitions.
E: recovered after the repairment of the driver by-pass capacitor and driver power supply.
Successfully ran clean at 1.3 MW for 400 ms. (shot 25). But tripped out at H-L transitions.
FMIT#2 was tested to dummy load at 1.9 MW for 100 ms. All signatures showed that the tuning was
still good after the re-assembling of the driver stage.
J: Conditioned up to 1 MW. It ran for clean for about 300 ms then tripped out. We need to re-configure
the j3/4 phase feedback system and the soft retries in order to succeed bringing back
J power after its first trip.

Between shot 1 and 2, FMIT#2 has been tested to 1.9 MW with 100 ms pulse length
to dummy load.

The FPA and driver screen currents were normal. We believe the tuning of
the system was still good after we re-assembled the driver stage.
We will try to run E antenna into the plasma starting with 400 kW (0.55 Sec).

RF conditioning.

Summary
_______

About 2.5 hours was lost at the start of the run checking out OH2U
supply after blowing fuses. Nothing obvious was found. Plasmas
starting out limited were repetitively disrupted by sparks and
injections appearing on the j-port antenna. Regardless of power being
launched by it. From shot 11 on, an older diverted shot was used.
This was able quite often to run through rampdown, but was still
experiencing troubling injections.

The gain in RCUR at startup was increased and various adjustments were
made to the startup. It was found that the relevant knob to adjust Bz
level is RCUR offset, and Bz evolution is probably RCUR drawn in
segment 1.

The first dud occured at 4:15pm. It had a clear sparker response to
gas, appearing to exonerate the sparker from blame. The ratiomatic was
also working so it is off the hook. I got the plasma back by lowering
Bz and Br slightly, but we got a dud on the final shot (26) also,
which definitely was reading lower Bz than other that had run. We
therefore have no obvious viable theory for the cause of the duds.

D and E port antennas were able to launch more than 1MW each. But they
did not stay on at L-H transitions. J-port got up to about 1MW.
