Summary:

J-port operation improved compared to yesterday's. The antenna
reached 2.7 MW with faults. A bottom tile was observed to be missing
and its failure was traced to a rampdown disruption on 1020916007. At
power levels above 2.0 MW, a glow is observed at the location of the
missing tile.

Summary
-------

The machine ran extremely well today with a startup reliability of
100%. Only one gas tweak was required all day. No field tweaks were
required. Bz0 and Br0 remained very steady throughout the day. Bz0
seems to like to run around -2 mT; somewhat lower than we used to
require. H/(H+D) was low early in the shot, but came up to the 10 to
14% level with rf. The H/(H+D) averaged over the shot (.5 to 1.5 s)
rose for the first few shots of the day and then saturated at the 12%
level, just as it did on yesterday's run.

The rf systems were coming up very nicely until shot 14 when the power
level at j-port became high enough to cause a disruption. Earl
noticed that the antenna was ejecting material into the plasma from
the lower k-side corner of the antenna. On shot 15 Steve Wukitch
noticed that a tile was missing.

Several shots were taken to judge what level of power was still
obtainable from j-port without causing injections and/or
disruptions. We appear to be able to run j-port at a level of 1.5 to
2 MW before what is probably one of the tile hold-down bolts begins to
inject into the plasma.

Problems: We had a delay of about 1:30 hours to fix a problem with the FPA
bias supply on the #4 transmitter.
