| Run Summary for 1021004 - MSE Calib II 1021004 Run Plan - MSE Calibration, Episode II...(The long awaited sequel) Engineering Instructions: Enable all trees EXCEPT RF. Enable DNB Gate valve. Set fizzle detector back (see SL or Rowan) PHYSOP Instructions: Load shot 1020627006, and DOUBLE the Prefill length. G-Side Ratio should be 1-1.5 mTorr. Make all TF/EF Flattops for 220ms. Follow TF/EF4/EF3 settings according to table below for each shot. Move to the next one when SL declares success for each setting. PHYSOP NOTE: Waveforms are minimally modified. EF PS are being toggled. To reproduce shots in future, will need to turn off same PS's and not rely on waveforms alone. DNB Instructions: Fire at 0.15s for entire day, Condition to good performance be the start of the run. Fire according to beam energies below (Eb). No Modulations. Results: Shots 001,002 were tests. MSE run starts on shot 003. ;# C-Mod Shot TF EF4 EF3 Spec Fbr Eb Polarizer ;0 1021004003 5.3T -1kA 0kA None 50keV In ;0 1021004004 5.3T -1kA 0kA 12 50keV In ;1 1021004005 5.3T 0kA 0kA 8(6) 50keV In ;2 1021004006 5.3T 2kA 0kA 7 50keV In ;3 1021004007 5.3T 4kA 0kA 6(8) 50keV In ;4 1021004008 5.3T 5kA 0kA None (FAULT) 50keV In ;5 1021004009 5.3T 5kA 6kA None 50keV In ;TF Change----------------------------------------------------------------- ;6 1021004010 4.5T 5kA 6kA None 50keV In ;7 1021004011 4.5T 5kA 0kA None 50keV In ;8 1021004012 4.5T 4kA 0kA 6(8) 50keV In ;9 1021004013 4.5T 2kA 0kA 7 50keV In ;10 1021004014 4.5T 0kA 0kA 8(6) 50keV In ;11 1021004015 4.5T -1kA 0kA 12 50keV In ;12 1021004016 5.3T 5kA 3kA None 50keV In ;TF Change----------------------------------------------------------------- ;12B 1021004017 5.3T 5kA 3kA 5 50keV In ;TF Change----------------------------------------------------------------- *12C 1021004018 4.5T 5kA 3kA 5 50keV Out/PEM off Repeat for spectra statistics ;12C 1021004019 4.5T 5kA 3kA 5 50keV Out/PEM off ;TF Change----------------------------------------------------------------- ;13 1021004020 5.3T 5kA 3kA 5 50keV Out/PEM off Repeat for spectra statistics ;13 1021004021 5.3T 5kA 3kA 5 50keV Out/PEM off Trying to get better spectra ;13A 1021004022 5.3T 5kA 3kA 4 50keV Out/PEM off Repeat ;13B 1021004023 5.3T 5kA 3kA 4 (FAULT) 50keV Out/PEM off Repeat for beam fault ;13C 1021004024 5.3T 5kA 3kA 4 50keV Out/PEM off Repeat for statistics ;13D 1021004025 5.3T 5kA 3kA 4 50keV Out/PEM off -------------------- Skipping original 40 keV shots 14,15 due to quality of spectra incompatible with measuring feature widths -------------------- Use another higher photon fiber to try to get good spectra. ;14 1021004026 5.3T 5kA 3kA 6 50keV Out/PEM off Better spectra, repeat one last time for statistics ;14A 1021004027 5.3T 5kA 0kA 6 50keV Out/PEM off ;TF Change----------------------------------------------------------------- ;15 1021004028 2.7T 0kA 0kA None 50keV In ;16 1021004029 2.7T 3kA 0kA None 50keV In ;17 1021004030 2.7T 5kA 0kA None 50keV In ;18 1021004031 2.7T 5kA 3kA None 50keV In Repeat settings 0-11, 16-20 (in that order) for statistics if time allows. | MP 322: MSE Calibration II Session leader: H. Yuh Physics operator: J. Snipes Power Systems as on 1020627013 ensure fizzle detector set to 1.9 s ECDC overnight in D2 at 2e-4 Torr, stopping by 07:00. Run begins at 09:00 and ends at 17:00. Gas setup: fill B-Top with 6 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG4) fill B-side lower with 1 psi Ar Hybrid enabled (PG1) fill B-side upper with 10 psi D2 Hybrid DISABLED (PG2) (for ECDC) fill C-side with 30 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG3) leave J-Bottom as is Hybrid DISABLED (PG5) Enable the following gate valve, assuming no vacuum problems: DNB Close gate valves during the pulse to avoid pumping out the torus. Run Plan: All trees enabled except RF. G-side ratiomatic should be at 1 - 1.5 mTorr. All TF and EF flattops to be 220 ms. There will be a series of TF and EF test shots with gas with the DNB firing at 0.15 s. There will be no plasma shots. Summary: Except for a brief data systems problem at the beginning and a cooling water failure in the middle, the power supplies and gas ran very well. There were 32 pulses all duds! Shot 1: Turn off EF3 to avoid induced currents changing the vertical field from EF4. Copied shot 1020627006 and doubled the prefill to 332 ms. ITF = 150 kA out to 0.25 s. EF4 at -1 kA out to 0.25 s. Data system failure. No response. No power. Shot 2: Attempted to repeat. EFC fired and needs to be off. TF did not fire and needs to be on. EF4 worked beautifully. The gas worked fine. Shot 3: Repeat turning off all power supplies other than EF4 and TF. Good. Shot 4: Repeat. Good. Shot 5: Turned off EF4 supply as well to have TF and gas only. Shot 6: Turned EF4 back on and set it to +2 kA. Shot 7: EF4 set to +4 kA. Shot 8: EF4 set to +5 kA. Shot 9: Copied shot 1020627012 which has EF4 set to +5 kA, EF3 set to 6 kA. Changed the prefill to 832 ms duration as in the previous shots. Shot 10: TF current set to 127 kA beginning rampdown at 0.25 s. EF4 at 5 kA, EF3 at 6 kA.,prefill at 832 ms. Shot 11: Turned off EF3 and repeated. Shot 12: EF4 to 4 kA Shot 13: EF4 to 2 kA Shot 14: TF and gas only. EF3 and EF4 off. Shot 15: EF4 at -1 kA. Shot 16: EF4 at 5 kA, EF3 at 3 kA, and ITF at 150 kA. Shot 17: Repeat. Shot 18: ITF set to 127 kA. Shot 19: Repeat. Shot 20: Raise ITF to 150 kA. Shot 21: Repeat. Cooling water failure after this shot. Delay to investigate. Shot 22: Repeat. Shot 23: Repeat. Shot 24: Repeat. Shot 25: Repeat. Shot 26: Repeat. Shot 27: Turn off EF3. EF3 disabled but still conducting!? Got 2 kA on EF3 with some strange shape. Shot 28: Turn off EF3 and EF4. Lower ITF to 72 kA. Shot 29: Turn on EF4 and set to 3 kA. Shot 30: EF4 set to 5 kA. Shot 31: EF4 set to 5 kA and EF3 to 3 kA. Shot 32: Reloaded shot 1021004008 at ITF = 150 kA, EF4 set to 5 kA and EF3 off. |
