Following the recent boronization, ITBs (without many H-L transitions
preventing them) were formed fairly reliably, over a range of
plasma currents from 600 kA to 1.1 MA. There was some difficulty
with disruptions at 1.2 MA, and no ITBs were formed. Preliminary
inspection of the Dalsa profiles indicates that the ITB foot
did not move over this range of plasma currents. Detailed analysis
of the poloidal field profiles will follow, to determine if these
profiles changed very much over this range of currents.
Ironically, the ITB foot was moved in today's run, 1021011, by
raising the toroidal field to place the ICRF resonance on the
low field side.

Engineering setup as on 1020925007

Power systems the same as shot 1020822010 Gas setup:
fill B-Top with 6 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG4)
fill B-side lower with 1 psi Ar Hybrid enabled (PG1)
fill B-side upper with 10 psi D2 Hybrid DISABLED (PG2) (for ECDC)
fill C-side with 30 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG3)

J-Bottom should be disabled and pumped out

Enable the following gate valves: ECE, VUV, DNB

RF Setup: FMIT#1 and 2 transmitters in Run On by 08:00

Plan

We will continue work investigating foot location, rotation profiles,
and scaling with Ip. Main issue is to provide good target for rf
to generate the ITB at an Ip of 700kA. Try to minimize problems at
crossover.

Summary
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The machine startup was extremely reliable today. H/D was relatively
low all day as was the radiation indicating the boronization was
effective. We had two fizzles, 28 plasmas.

We had several good ITBs today. See the session leader's report.

We still had great difficulty getting full length plasmas at either low
or high Ip (0.6 or 1.2 MA). We finally ended up ramping the current
slowly up to 1.1 MA, which seemed to help, but may have kept us from
getting the ITB. Some good data was taken at 0.8 and 1.0 MA.
