| Physop Summary for 1030423, April 23, 2003. PO: Rowan EO: Cochran/Parkin Purpose of run: startup Summary--------------------------------------------------------------------- Excellent machine performance for the second day of plasma operation with 19 full length plasmas out of 23 attempts. Used a preprogrammed gas puff, but density feedback could have been substituted late in the day. Initially loaded 1030422016. There were bounces and the first two shots were fizzles. Then loaded 1030422027. The next shot was full length. Bounces were less severe. Shot 1030422013 lasted 0.075s. There was a sharp increase in CII at 30 ms and there were ufo's on the TV camera. Early end was due to a brick. Shot 1030423021 was a fizzle. The pressure was approximately 1.6e-06 before the shot was started. Shots were running at approximately 10 minute intervals. Slowed the shot rate for the last two shots so that the pressure dropped to or below 1.2e-06 before the shot. The last two shots were full length. Shot rate during the day was highly variable due to cell access for diagnostic repairs, camac work, server hangs during INIT. This avoided the preshot pressure issue early in the day. RF was injected beginning at shot 1030423010. Consequent fueling is evident on that and subsequent shots.
