MP 438 J Antenna Evaluation: Operation without Faraday Screen Session leader: Wukitch Physics operator: Rowan Overnight ECDC in D2, and bake at 60 C. Run begins at 09:00 and ends at 17:00 Power systems as on 1051118001 (1.0 MA fiducial, 5.4 T, lower single null) A-coil configuration: normal [+Dtop -Dbot -Jtop +Jbot] and enabled. Gas Setup: fill B-Top with 6 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG4) fill B-side lower with 1 psi Ar Hybrid DISABLED (PG1) leave B-side upper as is Hybrid DISABLED (PG2) fill B-main (C-side) with 40 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG3) leave NINJA as is DISABLED Enable the following gate valves and shutters: ECE, VUV, Z-bolo shutters Torvac setup: Gate valves open NOTE: This run requires that both TMP1 and TMP2 be operational and pumping the torus We may use between-shot boronization during this run. We should start the day with the diborane bottle closed, until we complete step 4. ************************************************************************************ After the diborane bottle is opened, the cell and power room will be off-limits, except for SCBA equipped personnel ************************************************************************************ ICRF Setup: All transmitters to run-on by 8:30 am. Important Diagnostics: magnetics, standard impurity spectroscopy, video monitors for antennas Plan: 1. fiducial discharge 2. switch to USN to do L-mode comparison (1051118022) 3. perform current scan (0.6, 0.8, 1.2 MA) 4. perform right gap scan (0.5, 1, 1.5, 2) 5. perform density scan (0.5, 0.7, 0.9, 1.1) 6. H-mode comparison Plan is subject to change depending on course of events. |

| Run Summary:
The FMIT#3 HV dropout problem resurfaced today. We installed a regulated 24 V supply but the problem persisted. Instrumenting the logic chain isolated the problem between Driver Door and FPA Bias Normal indicators. This leaves relays 2, 3, and 6 as suspects and eliminated the High yard, PLC, and the xbar cabinet as suspects. In doing this troubleshooting we found the Driver cabinet and Screen supply (relay #2 is in here) doors without their door keep in place. We will test tomorrow to see if this problem has been solved. The interaction see on strap#1 during USN was not readily apparent in LSN. In LSN, the H-modes were not particularly good but it seems that J produces H-modes of lower quality than D and E. It becomes more apparent with higher plasma current. |
