| Finish LHCD campaign for FY 2006 run
1. Complete phase scan at 120 degrees. Had difficulty last run due to high intrinsic reflection 2. Push power toward 1 MW. Launcher has continued to improve with each run 3. Attempt to obtain full CD At 1 MW this should be ~ 400 kA 4. Explore ICRF plus LH |

| The run was punctuated by system problems. First an intermittent in the TMX/Chopper power supply, causing the loss of 2 shots due to early disruption; second the dropping out of the digitizer for CPS Cart 3 (in the process of fixing which the whole CPS digitizer went down); and third, the loss of a TF breaker which resulted in an early termination of the run.
Nevertheless, 20 shots were fired off, and 120 deg phase progression data were recorded for comparison to 60 and 90 deg data obtained from run 1060720. Attempt to raise the power only barely exceeded the record of 750 kW from run 1060720, and was made difficult by frequent trips. The good news is that the lost time will be made up on 1060728, which was previously scheduled as the day to begin the warmup for cryopump installation. Scorecard: 20 plasma attempts, no duds or fizzles and 2 disruptions due to intermittent in TMZ/Chopper supply. |

| Jul 27 2006 09:14:30:057AM | 1060727001 | Ron Parker | TCI needed alignment -- 15 minute delay. First shot coming up. |
| Jul 27 2006 09:24:50:220AM | 1060727001 | Ron Parker | First shot disrupted at 0.3 s.
|
| Jul 27 2006 05:14:11:000PM | 1060727001 | Ron Parker | Today's run will be devoted to lower hybrid with 3 goals:
i) Get X-ray data at 120 deg phasing; ii)Bring power up toward 1 MW; ii)Try to combine LH with ICRF. All systems are functional at 8:50 AM and we do not expect delay in starting up. |
| Jul 27 2006 09:49:48:227AM | 1060727002 | Ron Parker | Shot 2 went Off OK, LH tripped 12 times, no pulse. Channel 13 seems to be the culprit. For next shot, reduce outer gap by 4 mm to bring up coupler density. |
| Jul 27 2006 11:14:04:510AM | 1060727003 | Ron Parker | Shot 3 was OK, RF had long period without trips, but 3 dropouts near beginning and end. |
| Jul 27 2006 11:15:23:980AM | 1060727004 | Ron Parker | Shot 4 went off OK, two RF pulses, too many dropouts. |
| Jul 27 2006 11:17:19:120AM | 1060727005 | Ron Parker | Shot 5 was good, started RF ramping. Good period of uninterrupted RF. |
| Jul 27 2006 11:18:43:543AM | 1060727006 | Ron Parker | Shot 6 was OK, RF ramped but several trips near beginning of flattop. |
| Jul 27 2006 11:21:28:577AM | 1060727007 | Ron Parker | Shot 7 was OK, but density was higher than reference shot. Repeat.
No RF trips. |
| Jul 27 2006 11:11:53:447AM | 1060727008 | Ron Parker | Shot 008 went off OK, and the density was back down to levels typical of the shots before 007.
Good LH pulse, 120 deg phasing. Now we'll go the 2nd part of run, namely power pushing at 60 deg. |
| Jul 27 2006 11:23:47:937AM | 1060727008 | Ron Parker | Shot 8 was an excellent shot, density returned to reference level and no RF trips.
This is a good shot to compare with 60 and 90 deg phasing at 500 kW level. Reflection ~ 30%. |
| Jul 27 2006 11:45:16:147AM | 1060727009 | Ron Parker | Shot 9 disrupted early, 22 ms. Chopper voltage is low, same problem as in shot 1. |
| Jul 27 2006 11:56:16:840AM | 1060727010 | Ron Parker | Shot 10 had same chopper problem. Disrupted at 0.27 s. |
| Jul 27 2006 12:47:48:510PM | 1060727010 | Ron Parker | Next shot will be to troubleshoot TMX/Chopper suppply problem. |
| Jul 27 2006 01:01:16:607PM | 1060727011 | Ron Parker | Shot 11 cycled the chopper supply, looked normal.
Go for plasma on next shot. |
| Jul 27 2006 01:14:15:050PM | 1060727012 | Ron Parker | Shot 12 went off OK. Central density from Thomson is higher than what would have been expected from TCI. Probable TCI fringe loss. |
| Jul 27 2006 01:20:41:740PM | 1060727013 | Ron Parker | Shot 13 was OK, RF stayed on until 1.26 s. 600 kW RF, 20% reflection. |
| Jul 27 2006 01:38:33:263PM | 1060727014 | Ron Parker | Shot 14 was OK, Rf tripped repeatedly beginning at 1.13 s.
Try again, more power. |
| Jul 27 2006 02:22:08:653PM | 1060727015 | Ron Parker | Shot 15 was OK. |
| Jul 27 2006 02:22:39:153PM | 1060727016 | Ron Parker | Shot 16 went well. |
| Jul 27 2006 02:28:29:720PM | 1060727017 | Ron Parker | Shot 17 ran well, density creeping up. Try to lower n on the next shot. |
| Jul 27 2006 03:58:54:643PM | 1060727018 | Ron Parker | Shot 18 OK, frequent RF trips |
| Jul 27 2006 03:54:19:830PM | 1060727019 | Ron Parker | Shot 19 was OK, lost data from cart 3 digitizer. RF tripped just before 1 s and did not recover. |
| Jul 27 2006 03:58:31:237PM | 1060727020 | Ron Parker | Shot 20 was probably the best shot today, low loop voltage, nor sawteeth. But no CPS data!
Delay while Josh tries to get CPS digitizers working. |
