  Tune startup to taste, aiming for most reliable startup, preferably
    without runaways. 
  Run lower null discharges until it gets boring (hopefully), then 
  Change to Limiter discharges to do better scouring of inner wall, and
  If things are going really well go to upper null; try to get Brian
    to monitor upper probes during any upper null shots.

The run got off to an excellent start and then went really bad,
really fast. The first five shots were successful full length 
800kA lower nulls, which showed signs of cleaning up. We then hit a string 
of fizzle (late breakdown) and 3 duds that Ian blamed on the sparker, 
probably correctly. 

We got a plasma back on shot#10 after Jim increased the sparker voltage. 
However shot#11 was another dud and after Jim increased the voltage 
once again disaaster struck. On shot 12 there was evidence of big noise
false triggers on numerous signals, and the bus rogowskis for the OH2 
and TF currents went berserk. Since the bus rog signals are used by dpcs
for feedback control in pre-charge and in the fizzle sequence, the oh2's
were driven to their current rails. During the fizzle sequence they 
actually ended up at opposite polarity full currents, while the oh1 double
swung normally. The problem was exacerbated by the baseline subtraction
routine in dpcs, which ended up subtracting ~10V from the signals, somehow
ending up with the bipolar demands trying to reach +15kA on each.   

The bus rog problem was still present on test shots after shot12, including a 
PLC control oh2 test (shot 13). No permanent fault was found, and after a 
couple of rounds of pulling out cables and integrator boards and putting
them back in the problem went away. Very unsatisfying! We took additional 
tests including PLC tests on shots 15 and 16 before risking another dpcs control
shot. This is a very scary fault scenario that we have never encountered 
before. It is probably possible to make dpcs check baseline values for out of
range levels in baseline_sub and force an abort (jump to end or something)
to avoid this condition, but I need to think about how to implement it 
safely. 

For shot 17, in a superabundance of caution, we had the EO lower the reverse
bridge PLC current limit on all three OH supplies to 15kA, hoping to 
minmize the potential damage of a repeat of the behavior of shot 12. The shot
ran normally until it ran into these current limits at ~1.5sec, then disrupted.
The fact that JR convinced Bob to turn on the argon puff on 17 probably didn't
make things any worse, but it didn't help. 
The disruption stirred up a lot of dirt (mass 18, 44, 28, ...). Mass 18 went 
up by over an order of magnitude, and stayed high for a long time. This was the 
last plasma we got all day. Shots 18-28 were a series of duds and fizzles. We 
ran ecdc after shot#23, and Jim found that the sparker supply had tripped off
at some point, possibly after 17. However, we continued to get only fizzles
after it was turned back on and the ecdc was completed. 

Probably the fizzles can be blamed on dirt generated by the disruption, but 
it is possible something more serious is wrong. We should see based on 
what happens tomorrow morning, after an overnight of ecdc.  Meanwhile, a new
cable has been installed on the sparker, connected to the other HV supply,
and Jim says it seems to be behaving "correctly".

Ian started the day with 5 full-length plasmas in a row.  Then things
decrapitated.  Fizzles and duds, interrupted by a problem with the bus
Rogowskis for the OH2's and the TF.  This problem caused a problem with
DPCS feedback control of the OH2's on shot 12.  There were also DAQ
problems a number of seemingly unrelated signals, such as the G-side
ratiomatic.  It may of been coincidental, but this problem was immediately
preceeded by Jim Irby's tinkering with the sparker HV cable, and hearing a
""zap"".  It took several data system cycles and no-power tests to convince
ourselves that it was okay to continue with plasma operation.  We got a
long plasma on shot 17, which disrupted just after the start of rampdown.
And then it was back to fizzles and duds.

Sparker has been worked on.
