Engineering setup for Friday 23 March 2007 MP# 298a: Startup and MP# ??? : Start LH operation Session leaders: R. Parker? Physics operator: R. Granetz ECDC overnight in D2, pressure=2e-4 Torr. Rmin/Rdwell/Rmax = 44/45/103 cm. Bake at 60 C. The run will start at 09:00 and end at 17:00. Power systems as on 1070322001. A-coil configuration: normal [Dtop -Dbot -Jtop +Jbot] and enabled. Gas Setup: fill B-Top with 6 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG4) fill B-side lower with 1 psi Ar Hybrid DISABLED (PG1) leave B-side upper as is Hybrid DISABLED (PG2) fill B-main (C-side) with 40 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG3) NINJA pumped out disabled Enable the following gate valves and shutters, assuming no vacuum problems: ECE, VUV, Z-bolo shutters Torvac setup: Gate valves open during pulse. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ICRF Setup: None LH Setup: ready to operate. Can be turned on as soon as we establish plasma operation again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Run plan: Start from 1070322001 and get the plasma back after overnight ECDC. Then start up the LH. They request Ip=0.75 MA and density in the mid-10^19 m-3 range, if possible (nl in the low 10^19 m-2 range).

Run summary for Friday 23 March 2007 MP# 298a: Startup MP# ???: begin LH operations Session leaders: R. Parker Physics operator: R. Granetz The run was cancelled before it even began. Lots of PLCs had all sorts of problems overnight and this morning. As a result, there was no overnight ECDC. And while trying to work on the sparker this morning, an air leak opened up there. So we had to cancel the run, backfill the machine with argon, and remove the sparker from K-port. Then we'll pump back down and ECDC and bake over the weekend. Meanwhile, on Monday a new sparker will be installed on B-port behind an unused gate valve. Scorecard: 0 plasmas 0 duds 0 fizzles 0 power supply tests 0 no power MDS shot cycles -------------- Total: 0 shot cycles

Mar 23 2007 08:42:02:997AM Robert Granetz Lots of subsystems failed overnight, including ECDC, LN2, TF scanner, and some camac highways.
Thus, we did not get any ECDC overnight. It was turned back on this morning around 8 am. The
LN2, TF scanner, etcetera are being worked on now, but all of these problems have resulted in
a delayed start for today's run.

At this time, we don't know when the run will begin. But the first shot will be a no-power
data system cycle.
