Engineering setup for Wednesday 02 May 2007 MP 468: Fast electron diffusion (1/2 day) If time permits (but unlikely): MP 429: Limiter ohmic turbulence (1/2 day) Session leaders: A. Schmidt (MP 468), S. Zweben (MP 429) Physics operator: R. Granetz ECDC overnight in D2, pressure=2e-4 Torr. Rmin/Rdwell/Rmax = 44/45/103 cm. Bake at 60 C. Due to a problem that occurred with a flux loop during Tuesday, today's run will start late, if at all. At this time, Steve Wolfe doesn't think there's any chance of starting before noon. So if we do run, we'll try to do Andrea's MP in the afternoon, and Stewart's will most likely have to be postponed. Power systems as on 1070426013. A-coil configuration: normal [Dtop -Dbot -Jtop +Jbot] and enabled. Gas Setup: fill B-Top with 6 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG4) fill B-side lower with 1 psi Ar Hybrid DISABLED (PG1) leave B-side upper as is Hybrid DISABLED (PG2) fill B-main (C-side) with 40 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG3) leave NINJA as is DISABLED Enable the following gate valves and shutters, assuming no vacuum problems: ECE, VUV, Z-bolo shutters Torvac setup: Gate valves open during pulse. Special diagnostics: Hard x-ray camera, Thomson (density profiles) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LH Setup: ready to operate around noon. ICRF Setup: not needed, but OK to run E & J late in the discharge (after t=1.3 s) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Run plan: Starting shot: 1070426013 with flat-top density raised to nl04=1e20 (I need flat-top conditions at least during 0.5-1.2 s, when LH is on) During the day, we will only be varying the density, the current, and possibly the size of the outer gap (to control LH coupling). ICRF can go on if they want after 1.3 s. Diagnostics needed are HXR and Thompson density profiles. |

| Due to the problem with flux loop F10, we weren't able to run today. Steve Wolfe has been working all day to make all the necessary modifications to the control software. He's made good progress, and he thinks that it looks promising for tomorrow's run. |

| May 2 2007 08:39:41:783AM | Robert Granetz | Loaded shot 1070426013 (all segments), then loaded seg 1 from 1070501010. This is shot was 0.8 MA, 5.4 T, SNL. Outer gap was 8 mm. Raised nl_04 to 1.0e20 m-2. | |
