Beam-into-gas calibration with continuous EF which includes (1) standard EF scan (2) pressure scan (3) filter (Bt) scan 2. Beam-into-plasma calibration with Ip ramp 3. Beam-into-plasma calibration with plasma sweep Run plan: 1-(1). Beam-into-gas calibration with continuous EF Option 1: 1 shot with EF3 0->12 and EF4 0->5 Option 2: 2 shots with (1) EF3 0->9.5 and EF4 0 and (2) EF3 3.5->12 and EF4 4 If the uncertainty in the measured pitch angle is well beyond ~ 0.1 degree, we will do Option 2. Waveforms are in Fig 1, 2, and 3 in MP#491. 1-(2). Beam-into-gas calibration with pressure scan 3 shots with He pressure 0.2 -> 2.0 mTorr with (1) EF3 = -2, EF4 = 0 (2) EF3 = 10, EF4 = 0 (3) EF3 = 10, EF4 = 4 Waveforms are in Fig 9, 10 and 11 in MP#491. 3. Beam-into-plasma calibration with Ip ramp Option 1: 1 shot with Ip 1.1->0.25 Option 2: 2 shots with (1) Ip 0.45->1.1 (2) Ip 0.25->0.7 If the uncertainty in the measured pitch angle is well beyond ~ 0.1 degree, we will do Option 2. After Part 1-(1) and (2) done including some reproducibility test shots, we tried Part 2 but got many fizzles and disruptions. We went back to the beam-into-gas reproducibility test. | We executed the first set of beam into gas experiments in the SLs run plan. This included the EF3 and EF4 ramps and the pressure ramp. We found that if the EF3 current exceeded 10 kA, then there was a pressure increase that was not programmed. A valve may be opening up. This caused fizzles during the plasma attempts. It is hoped that overnight ECDC will be the cure. |
