| Start with 1071205026 (1 MA, 5.4 T, 0.8e20m-2, lower single null)
1. run E, J, and D separately for conditioning purposes if H-modes are obtained - test voltage limit of FFTs 2. Once voltage limit is completed or H-modes vanish, switch to upper single null discharges using 1071206018 with plasma current 1 MA instead of 0.8 MA for optimal cryopumping. We will still be attempting to maximize ICRF power while attempting to evaluate impact of cryopump on H/D. We will modify discharge parameters as deemed necessary. will be monitoring voltage and power limits will adjust density and current to avoid J neutral pressure limit |

| We were able to test the FFT's voltage range to some extent today. We
observed a single arc in the stub tuner and for the highest obtained voltage exceeded the previous voltage rating by ~15%. The system may be sufficient for H-mode operation. The voltage testing was limited from the loading today - its too high. After struggling a bit with USN discharges, we were able to operate the cryopump in USN discharges with upto 3 MW of ICRF power. Starting with 021, the H/D decreases from ~0.2 to ~0.08. We ran a discharge without cryo on 030 and the H/D climbed to 0.16 by the end of the pulse. This run differentiates from 12/05 where the H/D simply increased throughout the run from 0.2 to ~0.5 by the end of the run. The J antenna performance was not remarkably improved. We had difficulty operating at 1.5 MW and need to examine some trip levels associated with J4 before we consider modifying the 6" loops. |

| The machine ran relatively well today. We ran both upper and lower null discharges both with and without the cryopump. Some heating from the ICRF was observed with the cryopump on and relatively low h/(h+d). No tweaks were required to the fields, but several adjustments were needed to the gas to maintain breakdown as the cryopump was turned on and off. We had some serious early runaways on a few shots as I tried to the get early pressures and prefills high enough. This problem was mostly cured by the end of the run. The upper null operation also had problems with early and late marfes. Upper divertor operation with the cryopump again showed nice decreases in h/(h+d). Brian used the NINJA to supply inner wall fueling and help maintain the density.
Injections from the lower hybrid grill may have played a role in some of our disruptions from today. We had a cell opening to allow the launcher to be pulled back (approx 45 minutes), but the grill continued to produce injections starting around 1.2 s into the discharge.
