| SL Plan
Start with 1071213008 but with plasma current at 0.8 MA Continue where we left off Thursday: high power fft operation and condition the antennas and machine. We also will investigate the limits on J antenna. 1. Overlap D and E antenna to condition antennas plus machine and establish limits of FFTs in LSN discharges. J antenna will be operated separately to establish its limits. The LH will be injecting power as well but will need to monitor impurity injections. Greg also has permission to inject gas in the edge for testing and compatibility with ICRF. 2. Time permitting we will investigate higher and lower current discharges to condition other surfaces. We will modify discharge parameters as deemed necessary. will be monitoring voltage and power limits will adjust density and current to avoid J neutral pressure limit |

| Run Summary
J antenna 6" line was pumped out overnight to lower the RH. The RH is now <1% and we did ~15 vacuum conditioning discharges before the run where the voltage was improving with each shot. FMIT#4 had two consecutive tube arcs and suggests the tube may have met its bitter end. We turned J off after shot 004 and will investigate the screen supply issue in the morning. If the screen supply can be fixed tomorrow, we will test the transmitter into dummy load. D antenna condition was degraded substantially since we last operated the antenna. After about 6 discharges, D was well conditioned. Operation in LSN discharges appeared more troublesome than USN. From the LH langmuir probes, the density is higher at the probes for USN than in LSN. Gas puffing without LH power did not drastically impact RF operation in LSN, but a more sensitive experiment would be USN discharges. E antenna and the FFT system were tested into H-modes and we characterized its voltage limits (~33 kV). Yijun identified a few more 'features' in the FFT software and we will continue to work on them. |

Summary _______ There was no problem with startup at all. This was my second run day in two weeks with zero fizzles (the dud was a no-power shot). Upper and lower null plasmas worked as required. See session leader summary for what was accomplished on the RF conditioning, etc. Scorecard _________

1. Shot 20 was a disaster with many power supplies railing. It seems plausible that it caused the upset that led to fizzles. One counterargument is that shot 21 was a plasma.
