MSE-DNB angle calibration * MP491. * All shots: DNB fired into a gas-filled torus with no magnetic fields. * Reference shot = 1070816025. * 6 PSI gas pressure, deuterium. * Close torus valves except for DNB. * Desired torus pressure = 3 mTorr. * DNB: modulated. Objective of modulation is to get a DNB current waveform that is constant in time, and as high in current as possible. Hope to get 5+ amps. * MSE fibers from various channels will be connected to Bill Rowan's spectrometer, to measure the wavelength of the Halpha line. From this we can infer the Doppler shift and thus the angle between the DNB and the MSE sightlines. * Number of shots: in neighborhood of 7-20. * DNB timing (for short-pulse beam): starting at 0.5 sec.

We carried out a successful calibration of the MSE-DNB relative angle. Fired the DNB into gas-filled torus while various MSE fibers were inserted into the spectrometer to measure the Doppler shift. the nominal pressure for this expt is 3.0 mTorr. We varied it a little at the request of Igor to facilitate evaluations of the BES absolute calibration.
