Engineering Setup Run 1090618 --- Power Tests ----------------- Before tests begin and following cooldown there will be meggers of the coils. Power tests will begin with TMX supplies. Run begins at 09:00 and ends at 15:00 Power systems as on: Gas setup (provide as you can, we will test if available): Fill B-Top with 6 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG4) fill B-side lower with 1 psi Ar Hybrid DISABLED (PG1) leave B-side upper as is Hybrid DISABLED (PG2) fill B-main (C-side) with 40 psi D2 Hybrid enabled (PG3) Torvac gatevalve toggle (yes/no): no Boronization(yes/no): no Overnight ECDC (yes/no): yes ICRF(yes/no): no LH(yes/no): no DNB(yes/no): no Cryopump (yes/no): no ************************************ ************************************ We will continue the bake until roughly 05:00. The temp should then be lowered to 35/35/35. We should wait for approx 30 minutes for the vessel to cooldown before we start a slow cooldown of the magnets to operating temperatures. Vessel temperature: 35/35/35 ************************************ ************************************ ------------------------------ ECDC Parameters ------------------------------ gas and pressure: D2 at 2e-4 Torr sweep: 44/45/103 cm scan: 20/120 s |

| A leak developed during cool down that is certainly severe enough to keep us from making a plasma. We will leak-check as soon as possible.
E-Stop test was successful Lock-up went smoothly TF Overvoltage interlock successfully tested Meggers of magnets at operating temperature were successful. Data system failed on the first shot cycle attempt. Communication with Josh and in Provence was necessary. Shut down at 14:15 rather than trust data system at this point to generate power system control signals. Josh and Tom are working on the problem. PS: John Rice and Tommy were able to track down the leak to the Be window at B-Hor for the HiREX which was on a gatevalve. Closing the gatevalve dropped our basepressure from 3.4e-6 Torr to about 3e-7 Torr; nearly good enough for operation. It is clear that this leak had nothing to do with cooldown, but was caused most likely by the bake. |

| Jun 18 2009 09:24:52:730AM | Jim Irby | We developed a leak overnight: argon level about 7e-9 Torr (should be less than 1e-9 Torr).
Brian discovered his in-line valve closed on his scanning probe at A-Hor. An up-to-argon will be required to fix it. Interlocks did not work for some reason.
| Jun 18 2009 09:33:09:167AM | Jim Irby | E-Stop tested successfully. Now doing at temperature Meggers of magnets. | |
| Jun 18 2009 10:06:17:780AM | Jim Irby | Meggers all good.
TF Over-voltage test good.

| Jun 18 2009 02:16:03:813PM | 1090618006 | Jim Irby | System still generating false errors that make us unable to tell if power system can is actually generating real errors. Bill and Gary are unwilling to run power tests under these conditions. |
