| Establish standard discharge at 5.4 T, IP =1 MA, nl04~1, right gap ~1.0 cm, elongation ~1.6, upper and lower triangularity 0.3 and 0.55 respectively (similar to 1090811028) where a steady EDA is obtained.
Run the ICRF power at 3 MW from 0.7 to 1.1 sec and increase to 4 MW from 1.1 to 1.5 sec. If plasma performance is maintained in excess of 50 MJ (30 discharges) increase RF power 5 MW. Monitor stored energy, H89, Prad, and Mo. |

| Run summary
Scanned the strike point above the W tile row and found that discharges with the strike point above W tile are better (less W and fewer disruptions). The plasma performance was poor all day but raising the density gave more constant EDAs at 1 MA. However, the high density tended to exceed the antennas' neutral pressure limit. The neutral pressure seemed sensitive to things other than density like inner wall gap. Why was the RF operation so poor at high target density and elevated strike point? For J antenna, there appeared to be an increased probability of faulting as density increases. Lowering the plasma current to 0.8 MA allowed for low quality EDA H-modes and more consistent RF pulses. |

| The machine ran extremely well w/o any need of physop adjustments to
startup all day. We did have two fizzles, but the reason for them is unclear and the next startup was fine. Because of the tungsten injection problem, if we ran the strikepoint at its standard location, we had to make numerous adjustments to the plasma shape in an attempt to improve the rf coupling. All transmitters were having trouble running at even the 1 MW level. We had an eda mode on shot 11, but did not do that well again until shot 26, after reducing the plasma current to 800 kA. Problems: Issues with rf control --- path to server lost on shot 07. INIT actions for rf failed. We had OH2l crowbars on shot 10 and 12, with no clear explanation. The rf is still affecting the EF1 supply. We will need to move from the k-port to the c-port sparker as soon as possible. The sparker at k-hor is often running at the 10 uA level rather than the 150 uA level when it is regulating properly. This low current level does not seem to affect the startups, at least for today.
