1. Establish discharge using 1091124023 as a basis with 2.5 MW from D+E antennas and 2.5 MW from J in heating phase. (5 shots)
Neon may be needed to limit injections and faults.
Raise plasma current to avoid H-mode if needed.
Scan density down to maximize fast ion energy. - monitor Prad/Mo brightness

2. Using developed discharge, scan the J antenna phase with 2.5 MW from D+E, 2.5 MW from J antenna, Ip=0.8 MA and BT~5.2->5.7 T. (6 shots)

3. Scan the J antenna phase in discharges with 2.5 MW from D+E, 1.5 MW from J antenna, and BT~5.2->5.7.(6 shots)

4. Once the critical BT field is identified, perform power ramp to assess power required for sawtooth pacing for fixed BT. Compare different antenna phases (6 shots).

After struggling through the snow snarled traffic, we struggled to
keep out of H-mode despite calling up a similar discharge from
1091123. Perhaps a cleaner plasma was more susceptable to go into
H-mode or another indication that H minority is a more effective
heating scenario than 3He. At 1 MA, we have a clear difference
between +90 and -90, see 018 and 019 for example. The slow BT ramp
resulted in nice clear ST change as the sawtooth period passed through
q=1 surface as on 026 and 030. We decided to skip to the power scan
to try to get some data on high field side deposition but we were
limited in time. To investigate stabilization/destabilization in the
presence of a stabilizing energetic ion population, the combination of
80 MHz for central deposition with 70 MHz off-axis would be a good
scenario for off-axis, low field side deposition.

We got off to a bad start on the MP because we couldn't keep from 
getting H-modes, and rather high performance H-modes at that, some
over 220kJ. Raising the current to 1.3MA was insufficient to stay in 
L-mode at Prf~4MW. Finally we ended up dropping the RF power. The first
eight shots were full length with Ip between 0.8 and 1.3MA, all with 
at least two H-modes. Reducing density and increasing triangularity
did not prevent the H-modes, nor did adding neon and argon. 

Once the SL made it in after being stuck at home for the first couple hours
because of weather-related traffic delays, we were hit with a string of high
current (1.3MA) disruptions at about 0.7sec, just as the RF came on. After
several of these, Steve delayed the RF and we got the same result, exonerating
the RF. Current was then lowered to 1.2MA and the neon puff started at 0.55sec
was turned off and full length shots were restored. Moly radiation was 
rather high, but the plasmas survived and we began to get sawtooth 
data from the tf sweeps. However, around the same time we started getting
bad runaways in the startup, including one shot that actually saturated
the solid state hard xray monitor. Raising the pre-fill as high as 50msec
on PG4 did not eliminate the runaway problem. I also tried increasing 
the rcur offset as high as 3000A-m, without notable improvement. 

I wasted three shots (#20-22) trying helium startup to eliminate the 
runaways, getting two fizzles and a dud. The fizzles both looked like
the pressure was too high, but this may not have been the case. At any
rate, we decided to try to live with the runaways and went back to 
D2 startup on #23. 

Most of the following shots were successful, although we did have early 
disruptions on #24 (at 30msec or so), and in the current rise on #28 and 32, 
and one post-disruption fizzle despite dropping the fill on #29. 

On some of this last set of shots I left the fill alone after a moderate
runaway shot and the subsequent shot actually had lower hard xrays, 
indicating that perhaps reflexively increasing the puff is not the best
response. On the other hand, leaving the puff alone for more than two shots
did lead to more runaways on the third. 

We did manage to get through phase scans at two currents, 1.0 and 1.2MA
with the resonance on the low-field side. We got one shot near the
end of the day with high-field side resonance, but the tf scan didn't 
go far enough to cross the q=1 surface, and the second try disrupted 
early.

We had one long (40min) delay in the morning to re-install the FRCECE computer,
which had to have a power supply replaced. There was also about a one hour 
delay in the afternoon to take care of a water leak in the control room
ceiling and deal with a failure of the IGT torus ion gauge. At the same
time (around shot#20), the logbook database got locked, and we lost 
a few entries and had some that got the wrong shot numbers. The IGT was not
immediately repairable, so Tommy replaced its signal with that from the TMP2
gauge so the diagnostic valve interlocks would function. He is replacing
IGT after the run before the boronization tonight.

Re-reading the email from Wukie, I think he intended that the first
shot should have a TF ramp, although it doesn't say that in the run
plan. Therefore, go ahead and program that in.

while I'm at it, slow down the rampdown to end 2.7sec

Tom says the reason the logbook doesn't know what shot it is has to do
with the cycle having lost contact with the database.

looks like something came in at 25msec. Not sure if I need to raise gas or not
Restarting the cycle did not cure the logbook current shot problem,
will continue incrementing the shot# manually for entries.

I expect this to have runaways, but the last fizzle was unexpected,
since the disruption was at relatively low current and energy and I had
already dropped fill by 10%. Pressure should still be ~0.1mTorr, so I don't
think it will be a dud, although the helium window looked narrower than 
before. The Bz_0 may actually be a bit high.

Result: plasma full length, small runaways.

Result: plasma with runaways, disrupts in rampdown at 1.7sec
no H-mode, one rf fault. Breakdown was no earlier.

Next: put ef4 back to -1300, maybe adjust tf ramp?

Sweep from -130.5 to -116 (4.7 to 4.2T)

Result: Short runaway disruption 0.3sec
Looks like an injection, no obvious cause; happens at the density dip,
but I don't think it's a locked mode. I suspect the runaways are melting
the outer limiter and we're getting moly balls. 
Anyhow, too late to do anything about it now.
