| The purpose of these experiments is to use the modified HiREX Sr. Spectrometer to analyze the impurity transport in H-Mode plasmas. The shots below are designed to scan in collisionality, input power, and density.

| The purpose of this run was to characterize H-mode impurity confinement through scans in Ip, Pin, and perhaps density. The ultimate goal being to vary R/Ln through these scans and to change the driving terms of the turbulent transport. The objective was 2 cases of power and current and ultimately only 4 were achieved. Although steady EDAs were obtained at .8,.6, and .4 MA (19), (23), and (22,24) with good data from Hirex Sr. and other spectrometers. These shots were good but high current (>.9 MA) were not possible despite many shots of effort. The first 7 shots were dedicated to Hirex alignment and calibration but after that all were devoted to steady EDA H-modes. Further analysis will be performed on these shots in the coming weeks. |

| MP598 - Impurity transport studies in L and H-mode using modified HIREX-SR
SL: Howard PO: Rowan The main experiment was based on MP598 Impurity transport of Ca in an H-mode plasma, Nathan Howard. For this run, data was to be acquired for impurity transport in H-mode plasmas. The shots for this part of the run include 012-029. The goal was EDA H-mode with scans of plasma parameters and RF power. Some of these scans were completed. Others remain for future experiments due to difficulties in obtaining EDA H-mode and in consistency of RF performance. These are described in the log entries. The first shots of this run were a continuation of run 1100226, MP 502 HIREX-SR Calibration Plasma, Matt Reinke. The purpose of the previous run was to understand and avoid vignetting in HIREX-SR. Shots 001 through 011 were intended for this MP. This range includes a few unusable shots comprised of engineering failures and fizzles. Portions of several shots were optimized for MP595a Analysis of the Radial Impurity Transport at the Pedestal Region, Thomas Pütterich. Shots 004-006 were used for development of the plasma scan that was needed for this experiment. It would have been preferable had this MP been included in the shotlog just as the continuation of MP 502 was listed. Specifically, setup would have been quicker. The jog was re-introduced on shots 023 and 024.
