| SL Summary MP577 Density scan and LH injection into ITER-like rampup
great job by S. Wukitch, S. Wolfe, and J. Irby as usual I. Hutchinson's discharge from 2009 recovered right off with a diverted plasma all the way thru rampdown to 1.8 s ohmic discharges: 001, 002, 026, 027, 028 densities at end of ramp: 0.8, 0.35, 0.5, 0.8, 1.0 x 10^20 clearly lower Ioh1 current in lowest density LH discharges: 012, 021, 023, 025, 032 densities at end of ramp: 0.35, 0.5, 0.5, 0.75, 0.75 x 10^20 lowest density showed very clear reduction in Ioh1 radiated powers only slightly above ohmic discharges LH powers 400-500 kW ICRF discharges: 015, 016, 017, 020 desnities at the end of ramp: 0.35, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0 x 10^20 lowest density leads to highest Ioh1!! high radiated power higher radiated powers than LH or ohmic ICRF power at 1 MW Overall, a good run day with 32 shots. At least 3 densities for each condition. Temperature profile data shows direct n-T correlation. Had some trouble recovering early divert (by 100 ms). The plasma was touching the inner wall 100-150 ms, and sometimes again at cross-over. Too many disruptions, but still a lot of rampup phases were completed. DNB on every shot. |

| Loaded from 1090911012 and the start up needed to tweaked (had a
number of bouncers) but ran on the first try. The bounces were cured by a combination of changing EF4_IC from -1310 to -1280 which was more consistent with startups of late and raising PG4 to ~55 msec as well. To avoid disruptions during the flattop, the pulse length was shortened to 0.8s on 022 and we had better success at avoiding disruptions. 031 rode the inner wall so EF3 voltage was increased for 032 and the shot ran as desired. To obtain higher density at 0.5 s, pg3 was used as feedforward from 0.3-0.5 s at 50% in segment 2. We also decreased pg3 in segment 1 at breakdown from 40% maintenance 0.01-0.1 s to 0.01-0.03 s. We did not have injections or any glow from the inner wall tile except when we limited on it (a shot or two). We reduced pg3 initially due to the low requested density. score card 32 attempts 26 plasmas 6 fizzles 13 disruptions (before rampdown) |
