Run Plan Use vanilla 5.4 T, 0.8 MA discharges to condition D/E and J antennas. Initial discharges will be used to raise J power and explore J voltage limit in L-mode plasmas. LH-SOL reflectometer will require cell accesses to insert it to reasonable position. GPI will also be utilized to measure SOL turbulence changes with RF. We will also use a few discharges to explore D/E/J neutral pressure limit. If time permits, we will examine voltage limit, impact on SOL density profile, and gpi at monopole phasing.

Run Summary The run started out well. Vanilla 5.4 T, 0.8 MA plasmas were established on the first discharge and matches were quickly found for D and J antennas. J antenna reached 2 MW with faulting and dithering H-modes were complicating the matching and operations. We briefly switched to USN using 1110323032 but ran into disruption issues so we switched back to LSN with lower density to avoid H-mode. Unfortunately, the J antenna began to fault and the transmission line network, particularly the loops, appeared to malfunction. The power split between the antenna straps became asymmetric. Upon inspection, the decoupling appeared to have become particularly poor. We made measurements of the individual straps and found that strap three appears to be significantly different while the other three look identical. These measurements suggest a short somewhere in the circuit other than intended. We will need to keep removing coax until we can identify if the issue is on the air or vacuum side.

The run started promptly at 9:00 and the first 5 shots ran full length with programmed conditions. The startup for these shots, as well as those that followed, was excellent (although the preprpogrammed gas pulse was on for only 15 ms.) These shots were all standard LSN with I_p = 800 kA, B_T = 5.4 T amd nL_04 = 8e20. After shot 5 we switched to USN to avoid dithering H-Modes. There then followed a sequence of alternating disruptions and fizzles. The upper strike point apparently needs to be "worked in", probably starting with Ohmic shots. However, it was decided after shot 12 to revert to LSN shots by reloading shot 5 of this run at somewhat lower density (0.6 vs 0.8e20). Shots 13 and 14 ran full length with this programming. Unfortunately the J-port antenna stopped working and after ~ 1 hour of troubleshooting it was concluded that it would not be possible to fix J-port in time to resume the run, so the run was scrubbed after shot 14. Scorecard: 14 plasma attempts, 7 full length, 4 disruptions and 3 post-disruption fizzles
