| All antennas have been successfully run in to H-mode plasmas. We have also put serious RF power to the upper part of the machine in upper-single-null plasmas to condition up the machine.
The H/(H+D) level started the day about 10%, and then rose above 20% later. D and J antennas have been good all day. E antenna developed serious problems after shot 3. We believe somewhere in the transmission line has been arcing. Based on past experience, the arcing is likely happening at a Teflon supporting piece in the unmatched section of the transmission line. It is under further investigation. on 1120109, after opening the transmission line, we found broken ferrite tiles and debris inside FFT tuner #2. this has to be the cause of the degraded performance. (late investigation on the FFT arc from the digitized signals found the first FFT arc occurs on 1120104010) |

| We started the day running LSN discharges with all antennas stacked.
The machine operated relatively well and the H/H+D increased to 15-20%. In USN, we had to avoid excess power on the inner corner tile so we moved ZXU up 1 cm relative to its previous position. We chose this path instead of RXU because we were concerned about hitting the cryopump slot with the strike point. We also had relatively large n/ncrit and confirmed discharges were disrupting as a result. Since the outer gap was already 1.5 cm, ZXL was made more negative to reduce the plasma elongation. As explained by B. Granetz, the farther the x-point is from the plasma the more rounded or squat the plasma. Stability was also improved by raising ZCUR by 0.5 cm and could probably go farther. This USN discharge's vertical stability could be further improved by reducing the outer gap or increasing the plasma current. Compared to LSN, USN discharges appear to be dirty as evidence by the poor recovery from disruptions. |

Shot#1: Wukitch is running late, so I may be starting off as Physics
Operator.
Yijun clarifies the statement in the PO_PLan: They want to start
with LSN as on the last shot 1120104036 (seg2) and then proceed to
USN (in segment 3, as on 1120104032) after a few shots. They will
be overlapping the transmitter waveforms.
Load from 1120104036, confirm that Seg2 is on (LSN)
Seg1 has
17msec PG4 puff - leave it, but adjust slightly non-zero
point at -.518 back to 0.0
PG3 has 30msec plateau from -.001 to .1sec. Bring it up to 40V from
.001 to .04, then down to 30V (no good reason, I want
to see if it slows the current rise too much)
BR_0=+.001 offset - leave it, seems good.
IC_EF4U = -1310A - Seems a little negative, but leave it for now
RCUR offset = 3000A-m - leave it.
Seg2 has a rather late CLEARIN rise, reaching final at [.426,-.001]
Not sure if Greg had delayed this after going back to LSN later in
the run yesterday or not. Leave it, no need for earlier divert.
Holding off on loading (and signing in) until 08:50 anyway,
see if Steve makes it in. Alternator seems a little slow coming up, only at 1567 at 08:45.
