SL Plan for 1120514 LH Setup: 90 deg phasing, 50 kW/klystron, 40 kV, 0.5 s pulse. 1) Start from good LSN shot from 1120510. Set Ip=800 kA, nl_04=~3.5e19. LH on from 0.7-1.2 s. Adjust outer gap and launcher position as necessary to reduce reflection coefficients. If necessary reset CPS trip levels. (3-5 shots) 2) Repeat at 60, 120 deg phasing. If 120 deg phasing does not work, use 105 instead. (5-8 shots) 3) Increase LH power slowly at 90 deg phasing. If arcs occur, reduce power and try again. 4) If time allows, extend pulse length to 750, then 1000 ms.

SL_Summary for 1120514 A slow start to the day due to alternator and computer issues. Things progressed very well from that point with the LH power getting up to 800 kW by the end of the day. No signs of arcing up to 650 kW. There was an arc which was shut down quickly at 800 kW on shot 14. The system recovered from the arc after a few retries and continued for the rest of the pulse. Strong signs of current drive were seen at 800 kA. Loop voltage was reduced by over 50% with lots of non-thermal electrons. Synchrotron emission on WIDE2, ECE, and lots of HXR. Baseline drift on HXR suggests that maybe we need more stainless shielding on the camera window.

An alternator problem delayed the run to about noon time. computer problems also caused some delay in the afternoon. But the LH group got good result. last shot 15 was a beam to gas shot for the DNB group. No fizzles. One early disruption. the machine ran well.

Problem with Python prevented ACS from driving VMs. Looks like one of the CPS boards overheated and went unresponsive, which caused Python to fail. Rebooted and reestablished communication and will try again.

Some slight heating on LH septa of B and C rows, may just be reflection from plasma. Increase power to 110 kW/klystron for next shot with ramp starting at 50 kW.
