Desired Diagnostics: TS, GPC, GPC2, FRCECE, PCI, HIREX

Enable He3 (15 psi) on B-side upper
Argon on H-bottom for HIREX

Use equilibrium from 1120927017.
B_T = 5.5T (50MHz resonance near 0.76m)

J port dipole phasing

1. threshold of mode conversion
Start with 150ms He3 puff and scan downward until we get strong minority heating
Ip = 1000 kA, nl04 = 0.5 m-2, PICRF = 3 MW (J-port 1MW), He3 puff = 150, 100, 50, ...

2. minority heating power scan
Ip = 1000 kA, nl04 = 0.5 m-2, He3 puff = chosen from best heating above
a. J-port off, D+E = 3MW
b. J-port 0.5MW, D+E = 2.5MW
c. J-port 1.25MW, D+E 1.75MW
d. J-port 1.0MW, D+E = 0

3. plasma current scan
Ip = 800, 1200 kA, nl04 = 0.5 m-2, PICRF = 3 MW, He3 puff = chosen from above

4. resonance position scan
Ip = 1000 kA, nl04 = 0.5 m-2, PICRF = 3 MW, B_T = 4.8T, 5.3T

5. Locked mode shot for HIREX

6. density scan
Ip = 1000 kA, nl04 = 0.7, 0.9 m-2, PICRF = 3 MW, B_T = 5.5T

7. Install 40 psi He in B-side main. Do a Helium main ion shot for calibration. No change in equilibrium. nl04 = 0.6. no ICRF.

MP721 Controlling sawteeth and fluctuations in I-Mode with modulated off-axis mode conversion heating

THIS SETUP IS FOR A POSSIBLE CONTINGENCY RUN FRI 9/28/12 AFTERNOON
OR AS SCHEDULED SAT 9/29/12 MORNING

REQUIRED SYSTEMS: RF D,E, 50 MHZ J (DNB if avail.), LBO Ca

DIAGNOSTICS: TS, HIREX SR., GPC, GPC2, TCI, EDGE CXRS, Bolo, AXUV, MSE if avail.,
Polarimeter, Fast TCI, LH reflectometer, microwave reflectometer, SOL Ti probes,
Mirnovs, PCI

Special request: (similar to MP721 on 09/27/12)

B-side-upper 15 PSI He3 Hybrid Enabled (PG2)
fill B-side lower with 2 psi Ne Hybrid DISABLED (PG1)
fill H-bottom with 1 psi Ar Hybrid enabled(PG5)
F-port plenum with 10 psi D2 for NINJA
C-port plenum with 10 psi D2 for NINJA

D2 puff required from NINJA LFS/HFS
Ar puff required (H-bottom)
Also possible Ne puff (B-side lower)

Shaping same as 1120907028

J-port heating phasing

Bt = 6.1 to 6.3 T
nHe3/ne ~ 20-30% (100ms to 150ms puff)
This will place 80MHz D,E minority resonance near LFS half-radius.
In MC dominated regime, the J-port 50 MHz He3 MC layer will also
fall near the LFS half-radius.

Tentatively D,E will be ramped to establish I-Mode, then J will be added with modulation
roughly 50ms on/50ms off.

Ip = 1.1 MA
nl04 ~ 0.8
Full RF power

1. Locked mode for HIREX Sr. if needed

2. Establish off-axis heated I-Mode with J modulation 50ms on/50 ms off

3. Add NINJA, LBO, optimize

Sep 28 2012 09:51:23:783AMKen LiaoAfter discussion, this run will be postponed until Monday to allow the J antenna to be reconfigured. We have gotten permission to move two run days from FY12 into FY13 next week.
Sep 28 2012 09:53:15:737AMKen LiaoDNB is having some problems. Inverters 5 and 7 have failed and Granetz is removing the trigger fibers to prevent 5 and 7 from inducing faults in the other inverters.

After the triggers to 5 and 7 were removed, the beam performed mostly cleanly at 35kV, 5A, 75/25 timing for 10 pulses.
