Run summary for 04 May 1993:

OH2U&L were run under hybrid pre-programmed voltage control. Both supplies
responded properly.

OH2U&L were commutated and crowbarred successfully.

OH2L switch would not close on several shots, causing the supply to fire into
the commutation resister.
OH2L bus rogowski is inverted.

EF4 was run under hybrid pre-programmed voltage control, and then under hybrid
feedback control of the bus current at several PID gains. These tests
were satisfactorily completed. To achieve errors which are less than 10%
of demand, it is clear that the voltage pre-programming has to be fairly
consistent with the current demand.

EF4 coil polarity is now correct (after being changed on Saturday).
EF4L bus rogowski is inverted.
EF4U bus rogowski was dead (repaired 10 min. after run ended; simple reconnect)

EF2's were run for one shot to test bus rogowskis. They both worked and
both had correct polarity.

Hybrid pulsed-gas voltage programming successfully appears at the piezo valve.

Run was stopped early to permit continuing repairs to the TF supplies. No
TF shots were run.

OH2L: SCR switch must be fixed so that it closes reliably at beginning of every
shot.

TF: replace boards, continue work on crowbar problems

Priorities (1=highest). Each item on the list requires several shots;
the last shot of each sequence is described below.

1 Test OH2 commutation, hybrid control.
Last shot -- feedback on current at 10 KA., commutation (Granetz 2d).
Leave on for subsequent shots.

2 Verify TF crowbar problem is fixed. If so, leave on for subsequent
shots at 2.0 T. Only one cabinet is modified so we can't get
4 T. (Miniproposal P 9) If crowbar problem persists,
turn off?

3 EF4 under hybrid control.
Last shot - feedback on current at 1500 A. (Miniproposal P 11)
up to t=0. Then switch gain to zero, let preprogrammed voltage
remove the current.

4 EF3 under hybrid control. Feedback on Bz at -.1 T. starting
after t=0. Since it will be fighting ef4, this should require
- 3000 A or so. (Miniproposal P 11)
Note: While subsequent testing is going on, set up the hybrid
to switch the controller for Bz from EF4 to EF3 at t=0.
The drawn Bz switches from +.1 T to near zero at t=0.
(Wolfe -- control Bz with EF4 before commutation, EF3 after.)
As we add and vary other systems, observe B_z and tweak
gains. Objective is to use EF3 to push B_z to zero at t=0
and hold it there.
