The power feedback gain is insufficient to compensate for changes in total gain of the transmitter. We attempted to modify the feedback during the run, but this was unsuccessful (resulted in power oscillations). |

| Physop Run Summary for 990219 SL: Steve Wukitch PO: Rowan/Goetz EO: Frank Silva Overnight ECDC in D2 Engineering Setup ------------------ Power supply setup as in shot 990218027 TF under hybrid control Gas setup: B-top 6 psi D2 Hybrid enabled C-side 30 psi D2 hybrid enabled B-side lower 1 psi of Ar hybrid disabled B-side upper 20 psi He, disabled The goal was to execute Miniproposal 214. Briefly, the goal was to run fiducial-like shots in order to allow conditioning of RF. Refer to the Session Leader's summary for more detail and for comments on the progress toward conditioning. Note: If the setup for any of these shots is reused later, it should be noted that there is a 5% BT ramp at the end of shots 021 to 030 for ECE calibration. Note: The physop log erroneously states that the flappers were opened on 026. There was an attempt on that shot and on subsequent shots, but these were not successful. Prior to beginning this run, it was noted that Thursday's physop reduced BR slightly to avoid fizzles. We copied the setup for shot 0990217025 from Wednesday. The first two shots were fizzles. BR was lowered as recommended in the phyop log from Thursday, and we started to get plasmas. A vertical position oscillation was brought to the attention of the physops. Modifications were made to the slow feedback on shots 010 and 020 to reduce the oscillation. These appeared to be successful. The ECE-folk requested a 5% BT rampup at the end of the shot for ECE calibration. This was started at 0.85s. After a couple of shots, a rampdown was added at the request of the Session Leader. The current was increased to 1MA on shot 025 at the request of the session leader. This continued until the end of the run. Shot 001. fizzle Shot 002. fizzle Shot 003. plasma.
