Physop Summary for 990803 RF conditioning and getting the plasma back.

Summary
________

The weekend's extensive cleaning gave us a good machine in terms of
plasma operation, except that there was a lot of wall fuelling and
very little pump out at the end of the shot. The H level was too high for
good RF heating even before the RF came on (about 0.3 H/D). The antennas
or the RF interaction gave rise to substantial prompt increase in the
bolometer, and a systematic increase in H/D to about 0.7.

Nevertheless, good progress on RF conditioning and tuning was made. Over 1 MW
was obtained from both 3 and 4 separately. Apparently they still won't run
well together. The D/E RF seemed to run fairly reliably.

In my humble opinion we should boronize as soon as possible so as to get the
Hydrogen level down.

Various tweaks to the ramp-down were made, with a view to reducing the
elongation while still diverted. This was partially successful, but the
EF2 currents tend to zero out. Still ramp-downs to <250kA were routinely
obtained.

Initiation was very reliable except for cases where Br wandered off.

3) Bring 3 and 4 (J) along and understand its behavior.


Plasma will be simple, reproducible, and with some
minor tweaks to help bringing up the new antenna.

We will monitor H conc, gaps and so forth.
