Run summary for 990924, MP218, Impurity Transport Coefficient Profiles in
EDA H-mode

The purpose of this run was to determine the profiles of the impurity
diffusion coefficient and convection velocity during EDA H-mode. There was
one excellent discharge for study, 990924005, and then the run was cancelled
due to a warm reading on one of the TF windings.

Run 990924 was in support of MP 218 -- Impurity Transport Coefficient
Profiles in EDA H-Mode. Run repetitive shots similar to Shot 990920015
and inject CalciumFluoride and scan HIREX and MCP spectrometers to measure
Ca and F charge states and their distribution.

Nothing was done today toward completion of the MP. Three shots were
taken with the last having 2.8MW of RF for a nice EDA plasma with CaF
injection. All three had good breakdowns and current rises. The run
ended early due to concerns over an above normal temperature reading in the TF
magnet.

Engineering, computing, and diagnostics today:
A critical CAMAC initialization error led to a dud for shot 2.
There were indications of above normal temperatures in the
TF magnet and the run was stopped early to investigate these
measurements.

Scorecard: 11 shots = 3 plasmas + 0 fizzles + 1 duds + 7 tests
