Run 991020 was in support of MP 214 -- ICRF Conditioning. The purpose of
today's run is to determine the best way to operate the J-port antenna.
Run repetitive shots similar to Shot 991019014 and twiddle about.

Some plasmas were produced toward completion of the RF run plan. See the
Session Leader's summary for a synopsis of accomplishments.

The run today was very difficult. It was plagued by fizzles and duds.
Eventually the IC_EF4 was lowered to -1290A and the prefill was raised to 26ms
and three plasmas followed. The null looked quite marginal until the last
few shots of the day, but the null looked similar to those obtained on 991019.

The fill was raised after the duds and resulted in plasmas. However, shot 010
- a dud, followed shot 009 - a plasma with no PCS changes. The fill pressure
eventually ended up at about .073mTorr for shots 13 & 14.

It seemed that changes in IC_EF4 did not always manifest themselves in changes
in Bz, see for example shots 005 and 012. Twiddles were performed on BR_0 and
eventually an offset value of between -.0005 and -.001 was found to be
acceptable.

Engineering, computing, and diagnostics today:
A TF pulse with a 2T flattop from 2.7 to 2.85s was used today
to measure the TF magnet resistance. Until further notice this
TF waveform should be used so that Irby can monitor the TF magnet
resistances. There was a long break to fix a problem
with the master control board for OH2L. Another 1 hr break in the
afternoon was taken to fix a loose wire on a EF1L control board.
However, this fix did not cure the problem with the EF1L lagging the
EF1U in the precharge.
