Previous Ideas Forum (April 2009)

The entire Ideas Forum will be available for remote participation from collaborators. The following are options for viewing the meeting content:

Presenters’ slides will be shared in real time via ReadyTalk.
To access this Java-based service:

  1. Browse to: http://esnet.readytalk.com and join the meeting with access code 7347954.

Presentations will also be available on the web linked through the agenda at:
/research/alcator/program/ideas2011/agenda_mirror/ideas_forum_agenda.htm
(You will have to go through the presentations manually)

Streaming Video and Audio

To follow along with the meeting, video and audio will be streamed over the web. (You will need to have either Real Player or Quicktime installed on your computer.) Note that there is a 5-10 second delay imposed to handle local buffering.

  1. Browse to: http://mcu2.es.net/
  2. Type your name in the box labeled 'Sign-in name'
  3. Type 2663 in the box labeled 'Conference ID'
  4. Leave the pin blank
  5. Choose realplayer or quicktime
  6. Click Stream this conference

Interactive participation can be done in the following ways:

Two-way Video conferencing

  1. Available on systems using the H.323 protocol and registered with ESnet
  2. The meeting number will be 852663 (or, if this # is unavailable, we will use 822663)
  3. If you can, please connect 5-10 minutes before the beginning of a session so we check out the audio and video.
  4. If connecting in the middle of a session, please mute your microphone. It may be desirable to keep it muted except when you have a contribution to voice.
  5. The session chair will advance your slides on the local machine.

 

Two-way Telephone conferencing

  1. Service is through the ESnet audio bridge at LBNL in  Berkeley CA.
  2. Please mute your microphone before connecting and when you are not actually speaking.
  3. Dial 1-510-883-7860
  4. At the prompt enter 852663 followed by the # sign.

 

Users not participating in the above conferencing can present over the phone:


Presenting by telephone: We will call you.

  1. Please send the number you will be at via email to ideasforum@psfc.mit.edu by 5 PM EST on January 7th.
  2. Be at that number at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time slot (And check the latest version of the agenda the morning of your talk.)
  3. We will call you shortly before your talk.
  4. The session chair will advance your slides on the local machine.
  5. It is best if you can keep your phone muted except when you are speaking.
