A short summary of the expected machine
capabilities/parameters/diagnostics for the 2007 campaign follows. For more
thorough information, please visit the C-Mod website or contact us.
C-Mod Parameters
- BT from ~2T to 8T
- IP up to 2 MA
- central ne up to ~1x1021
m-3
- Ti~Te up to ~5 keV
- elongation from 0.9 to 1.7
- triangularity from ~0.3 to 0.75
- single null (lower or upper), double null or
limited configuration
- reversal of BT and IP
direction possible for brief periods
New diagnostics
and facility features to be
implemented for the 2007 campaign:
- Cyropump in upper divertor for improved density
control (~10kL/s pumping speed)
- Prototype tungsten lamellae tiles
in divertor
- Surface science station for
deposition studies
- Additional magnetic pick-up coils
for low-n mode resolution
- Bolometry upgrades
- Improved inner wall scanning
Langmuir probe high-field side flow measurement
- Prototype fast-ferrite
tuner for real-time ICRF tuning
- 7° rotation of
diagnostic neutral beam for improved MSE
- Dust injection and
laser scattering detection
Auxiliary Plasma Heating/Current Drive Capabilities:
- ICRH: routine forward power up to 5MW. Source
freq. variable from 40 to 80MHz. Heating or current drive phasing.
- Lower Hybrid wave launcher with source
power up to 3 MW

- Long-pulse diagnostic neutral beam (1.5 sec
duration)
- External correction
coils (A-coils) for non-axisymmetric
field studies and locked mode amelioration
- Active MHD antennas
- Digital plasma
control system for flexible real-time feedback

- Li/impurity pellet injection

- Edge and SOL profiles via reciprocating probes
