Final Agenda and Links to Talks

Important Deadlines

  • Nominations for Preview Talks  January 23, 2004
  • Abstracts for contributed talks and presentations March 5, 2004
  • Hotel Reservations March 28, 2004

Meeting Format
We will continue having preview talks followed by extended discussion time for the plenary session.  These talks are intended to cover broad areas of transport, providing a review of the present status of the area, and emphasizing outstanding issues for future work.  The presentations should be capable of stimulating extended discussion.  If you would like to propose a topic on an important outstanding transport issue and nominate a speaker, please note that the deadline is relatively early - January 23, 2004 - to give speakers adequate notice.

Preview talk nominations
Suggestions and nominations for preview topics and speakers should made online here or forwarded by e-mail to Paul Terry at pwterry@wisc.edu.  (A printable version can be found here.)

Registration and abstracts for contributed presentations
Preregistration and contributed abstract submission can be done online or via fax or email to Paul Terry at pwterry@wisc.edu by March 5, 2004. The online preregistration form is here.   (A printable version can be found here.)

Working Groups
TTF working groups provide a structure for furthering research and collaborative ventures in fusion transport science.  At the meeting they provide forums for many of the presentations and discussion.  In 2003 the TTF working groups were restructured.  The working groups on H mode physics, core transport, and fast particle physics are designated as topical working groups.  The working groups on modeling and transient phenomena have been designated as cross cutting working groups.  The latter may meet alone to discuss methodology and technical details, or participate in topical group sessions to which their techniques and investigations contribute.  To allow for greater discussion and scientific exchange, some working groups plan to have shorter oral presentations with details to be given in an expanded poster session.

Proximity to International Sherwood Fusion Theory Conference
This year, those wishing to attend both the TTF and the Sherwood theory meetings can do so in the same week.  The Sherwood meeting (April 26 -28, Missoula, MT) ends at noon on the 28th, allowing the afternoon for transit to Salt Lake.  Since most airline flights into Missoula require connections through Salt Lake City, the impact on airfare and itinerary should be minimal.

Transport Initiative

The TTF is advocating a transport initiative in the US Fusion program, intended to secure an increment in the fusion budget.  The TTF proposal is contained in a white paper posted on the TTF web site.  The initiative recommends a focus on electron thermal transport and H mode/pedestal physics, while continuing work in other critical areas such as ion thermal transport, momentum transport, and particle transport.  Presentations are particularly welcomed that describe work on the development of new diagnostics, analysis techniques, and approaches that further investigation in the focus areas,  Efforts that can begin to integrate the multiple effects of relevance to the H mode and H-mode pedestal are of special interest to the H Mode/Pedestal working group.
