Born 17 December 1969 in Silkeborg, Denmark (Age: 39, nationality: Danish), married, two children.

 

 

University education:

 

September 1990 - March 1995:  Student at The Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen (DTU). Areas of study: plasma physics, mathematics, general physics, electromagnetic field theory and electronics.

 

Spring 1993: On leave at JET Joint Undertaking, Abingdon, UK.

 

October 1994 - March 1995: Master thesis, partly at JET Joint Undertaking and at The Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen.

 Project: Relativistic wave interaction in plasmas.

 Supervisors: Dr. H. Bindslev (JET/Oxford) and Dr. M. Samuelsen (DTU).

 

June 1995 – July 1998: D.Phil. (Ph.D.) student at Oxford University, UK. Tittle of studies: Fast ions in tokamaks and their measurement by Collective Thomson Scattering. Supervisor: Dr. H. Bindslev (JET/Oxford).

 

 

Qualifications:

 

April 1995: Master of Science from the Technical University of Denmark.

 

July 1998: D.Phil. degree in experimental plasma physics from Oxford University, UK.

 

 

Awards:

 

June 1995 – July 1998: Awarded a Category 20 Madam Currie fellowship under the European human mobility act. The award funded living expenses as well as direct expenses associated with my studies for a D. Phil. degree at Oxford University.

 

 

Professional experience

 

1991 - 1994: Assistant tutor of classical mechanics at the Technical University of Denmark.

 

January 1994: At JET to implement a neural network for the analysis of data from the Collective Thomson Scattering diagnostic.

 

July - September 1994: Summer student at the CERN particle accelerator. Worked on systematic errors in measurements of the polarization of the target in the NA47 experiment.

 

July 1998 – October 2000: Post. Doc. at MIT PSFC working for A. Fasoli and M. Porkolab. Preparing and running the magnetic reconnection experiments in the VTF plasma device.

 

November 2000 – August 2005 Research scientist at MIT PSFC. Managing the magnetic reconnection experiments in the VTF plasma device.

 

September 2005 – : Assistant professor in the Physics Department at MIT.
