Jim Terry
Jim, son Jesse, Nixie, and son Morgan (9/2005)
Principal Research Scientist
on the Alcator C-Mod Team
at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's
Plasma Science and Fusion Center
Professional Interests
- My research has involved the study of laboratory plasmas with the goal
of energy
production by nuclear fusion (the process by which the sun burns). This has
required a working knowledge of
plasma physics,
atomic physics,
atomic spectroscopy,
plasma diagnostics,
vacuum technology,
optics.

Citation: "For significant contributions in the areas of volume
recombination in plasmas, plasma impurity transport,
wall-conditioning with lithium, plasma transport, and
plasma turbulence in magnetic fusion confinement devices."
