Biography

Dr Raul Gerru is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Plasma Science and Fusion Center since 2023. He got his bachelors degree in Physics from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, his home town in Spain. He then studied a nuclear physics masters while studying Reynolds Stress and radial electric fields with probes on the TJ-II stellarator in the Laboratorio Nacional de Fusion in CIEMAT, Madrid. He then moved to Copenhagen in Denmark to study his PhD titled "Study of the origin of the electric field in toroidal magnetized plasmas" at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). This study was focused on gyro-fluid theory and simulations in tokamaks, studying the difference in the radial electric field observed in the edge of tokamaks when the toroidal magnetic field direction is reversed. After this, Raul joined PSFC as a postdoctoral researcher stablished at DIII-D tokamak, operating the LLAMA diagnostic, focused on characterizing the edge neutral fueling. His research expands from divertor physics to the edge, also focusing on scrape-off layer physics.
