Nuclear Science and Engineering

Brandan Buschmann is a PhD candidate in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering. A Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration Laboratory Residency Graduate Fellowship recipient, he is advised by Dr. Johan Frenje in the High-Energy-Density Physics Division. His research focuses on two areas: investigating the physical processes that limit the performance of inertial confinement fusion (ICF) experiments through experimental and computational studies, and developing next-generation diagnostic instruments to improve measurements at ICF research facilities. Buschmann collaborates closely with researchers at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the University of Rochester's Laboratory for Laser Energetics.
