Ivan is a graduate student in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering and a member of the Magnetic Fusion Energy-Integrated Modeling Group studying transport and accumulation of tokamak plasma impurities, which can have major effects on fusion performance and power handling. His work involves coupling simulation models together to enhance analysis of near-edge transport and implementation of machine learning methods to match simulation results to experiment. Outside of research, Ivan spends his time mentoring students as part of the Physics Mentorship Program and the NSE Communication Lab, and he serves as president of the MIT Black Graduate Student Association.
