Updates on fusion neutronics at Argonne National Laboratory and outlooks on computational geometry for particle transport

A seminar by Patrick Shriwise

Abstract: Dr. Shriwise will be presenting on fusion neutronics development at Argonne National Laboratory in OpenMC, an open source Monte Carlo particle transport code originally developed at MIT. This talk will focus in particular on addressing computational geometry challenges related to designing prototypic fusion power plants. Topics will include adjoint transport, the random ray method, particle tracking on CAD/mesh-based geometry, and outlooks on future research directions for integration with modern CAE workflows.
